On May 22nd, the American Cancer Society will celebrate 100 years in existence!   Since 1913, the Society has been at the forefront of many innovative discoveries and has been a driving force in providing services to cancer patients that can ’t be found elsewhere. You are invited to join the Relay For Life of Second Life community as we kick off the birthday celebration with a Celebration of Hope on Tuesday, May 21st from 5pm to 7pm SLT on the American Cancer Society sim. The Relay For Life of Second Life is one of the most unique Relay For  Life events in the world...and the virtual world. It's a completely virtual  Relay event where all of the planning, serving, hosting, walking and fundraising are done entirely online.. .and most of which is done inside the virtual world of Second Life. Money raised through the Relay For Life of Second Life is used to support the mission of the American Cancer Society. Because Second Life is a global community,  and volunteers come from more than 13 different countries, it is important that we serve those affected by cancer not  just in the United States, but around the world.
